"Envision Eugene" Listening Session

Good morning Neighbors,

Churchill Area Neighbors (CAN) is looking for about 5 individuals from our area to come to a "Listening Session" on envision how to accommodate growth in our city from your neighborhood perspective. All you need to do is bring your hopes, dreams, cares and concerns to this meeting and share them.

Back ground information:

A number of community members, including City of Eugene Planning Division staff, have recently had the opportunity to work with Bob Chadwick, a nationally-known conflict resolution advocate and consensus builder.  In working with Bob, we have begun to talk to one another in a different way, and are already seeing benefits to our work from this approach.  We are listening to community members, and we want to hear from you.

In late February and early March, Planning staff conducted over 100 individual interviews and two small group listening sessions about issues facing our community as we continue to grow.  We're now moving out into the community to hold listening sessions in the neighborhoods, and with various groups of people interested in a particular aspect of urban growth planning.

You may or may not know that Eugene is expected to grow by another 30,000-40,000 people over the next 20 years.  A new city project titled "Envision Eugene" is calling on the community to help us envision how to accommodate that growth. These interviews and listening sessions are building a foundation from which to run this project. The purpose of the listening session is not to record what happens or use the content in any official capacity; rather, it is to learn about the perspectives of various community members and have that inform our official process going forward.

We would like to schedule a group of interested people from across the Far West and Churchill Neighborhoods on the evening of Wednesday, April 14th.  The meeting will be located in either the Far West or Churchill neighborhood.  The time would be from 6-9 pm.  The city and facilitators will provide snacks and water, and you don't need to do anything to prepare; just come willing to speak and have city planners listen to what you have to say.  You don't need prior experience with city planning projects or issues to participate.

We hope you will join us!
